  • Emre Yavuz

    President

    Emre Yavuz is a second-year MAIR student studying International Economics and Finance. He is particularly interested in emerging technologies’ impact on the global economy and economic development in emerging markets. He previously developed innovative digital solutions for capacity-building projects in developing countries. He considers himself an avid cinephile and a home cook.

  • Anthony De Luca-Baratta

    Vice-President

    Anthony is a first-year MAIR student and a Public Service Fellow. As an undergraduate student in philosophy and economics, Anthony worked as a research assistant at McGill University and Concordia University, and as a political organizer for Canada’s New Democratic Party. His research interests include political and international security risks from emerging technology, especially AI and biotechnology, and the key role Western-Chinese relations play in their enhancement or mitigation.

 Effective Altruism SAIS strives to build a community of people who seek to continuously explore strategies to improve the world and apply them in their lives.

At Effective Altruism SAIS, we strive to build a community of like-minded individuals who share common beliefs, engage in meaningful discussions, and design strategies that address the challenges of the present-day world.

We run Fellowships during which we discover and discuss new ideas, and we join or run events, including talks, dinners, and conferences.
